A Journey into the Heart of Manggarai

 

Our journey to Wae Rebo began in Labuan Bajo, where we started our drive toward Denge, the village that serves as the starting point for the trek to Wae Rebo.

 

As we traveled deeper into Flores, the scenery gradually changed. We passed through villages, plantations, hills, and winding mountain roads. The journey itself was already an experience.

 

After arriving in Denge, we continued our journey on foot. The trek to Wae Rebo takes around two hours, depending on the pace and condition of the travelers. The trail leads through a beautiful forest, surrounded by fresh mountain air and the sounds of nature.

 

After the long walk, seeing the traditional houses of Wae Rebo appearing among the mountains was a memorable moment.

Wae Rebo is more than a beautiful destination. It is a place where visitors can experience the traditional culture and hospitality of the Manggarai people. The traditional Mbaru Niang houses, the peaceful surroundings, and the welcoming local community create a unique atmosphere that is difficult to find elsewhere.

 

We spent time enjoying the village, learning about local traditions, drinking Flores coffee, and sharing simple moments with the community.

 

The journey to Wae Rebo may require effort, but the experience makes it worthwhile.
